We’ve seen it in the UK with Lillian Ladele and others – religious zealots standing up and trying to legitimise bigotry by saying equal rights for gay people damages their religious freedom. Of course that’s utter garbage – everyone’s allowed in both the US and UK to practice their religion freely, they’re just not allowed to discriminate with it. That’s the thing when you’re governed by the rule of law rather than the rule of God. According to Advocate magazine:
The ad will run in places like New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and California — states on the front lines of the marriage-equality movement.
And that’s because they (the Christianists) are now on the losing side and quite, quite desperate.
