I agree with Jason’s comments and am sorry to see that fundamentalist Christians are still unable to take anyone else’s views into account. Many Christians already realise that we cannot base our morals on the LITERAL interpretation of scripture – if we did, we would still be burning people at the stake for breaching Old Testament food laws! For me, the Christian message comes from Jesus first and foremost – and that is “Love God, and love your neighbour as yourself” – everything else stems from this. It just shows me how far we have come from the idea of individual scriptural determination which supposedly underlay the reformation.

I would like to see how members the DUP would react if a Muslim MP wanted to institute Sharia law in Northern Ireland. No doubt they would be more keen on a separation of religion and politics then! Everyone has the right to make their own choices and to live freely no matter of sexual orientation, gender, religious or political belief.

It is arrogant of Iris Robinson to assume that her comments represent the views of the Christian community in Northern Ireland or, as her colleague Jeffrey Donaldson put it, ‘this is what the Northern Irish people want.’ She does not represent my views nor those of many Christians that I know. Her personal view on homosexuality should not be relevant to her politics and if she cannot control her tongue, she should go. As for her party, they should do the right thing and condemn her comments. VOTE THEM OUT!!!

Really, Andrew, you’re doing nothing to show your own feelings on the matter other than reciting what other people have told you to believe. Were you, by chance, a gay man who was saved or has seen the light?!

Taking my tongue out of my cheek a little, you are still making no points that we couldn’t all see by googling “church+teh evil gays+christ” or something to similar effect.

As for this:

Well, my young child can make a better argument than you do. By saying that you’ve proven to me that you have no argument at all and are so completely stuck as to throw things out.

You can call it whatever you like – gay, queer, bent, faggots, poofters, shirtlifters, etc. We’ll know what you mean.
